VISIT OF HON. (PROF.) G.L. PEIRIS, MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS OF SRI LANKA TO UAE
The Hon. (Prof.) G.L. Peiris , Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka will be on an Official Visit to UAE on 8 – 9 October 2011. He will be meeting His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister of UAE on 9th October 2011 at 7.30 p.m.
TRAINEES IN HOSPITALITY SECTOR
Sri Lankan Embassy has organized a training programme in the hospitality sector for the youngsters in Sri Lanka to be trained.
The Embassy has invited hoteliers and those in the sector to the Embassy on the 9th at 10.00 a.m. to meet Mr. Asanka Abeygunasekera, Chairman, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency.
Those who are in the hospitality sector is advised to communicate with the Sri Lanka Embassy.
This is an opportunity for the youngsters in Sri Lanka to go through training in the UAE for 6 months, the hotel schools and those involved in the tourism in Sri Lanka are informed to get the best used of the opportunity.
CRICKET MATCHES BETWEEN SRI LANKA AND PAKISTAN
A series of cricket matches will be held in UAE between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan are leading countries in the world for cricket. For those two countries cricket is a part of their culture. Cricket is so integrated in these two countries they give preference for this sport and there is news that they at times play better cricket than where cricket was originated. Enclosed herewith the schedule of the matches.
TRADE MISSION TO SRI LANKA
There will be a UAE Trade Mission to Sri Lanka headed by H.H. Sheikha Lubna. This powerful delegation will be in Sri Lanka on the 24th -26th November 2011. Those who are interested in participating may contact the Sri Lanka Embassy.

New Year Day will be celebrated in the Abu Dhabi Embassy and Dubai Consulate with a new vigor and ?Plan of Action? for the rest of the year. There will be all-night ?Pirith Ceremonies? in Abu Dhabi & Dubai respectively on 31st December 2010 followed by all religious observances on the following morning of 01st January 2011. The Community is invited to take-part in the religious and cultural observances of all faiths, religions and nationalities will be served with traditional lunch.

4th February is our Independence Day. In the morning, there will be all religious observances and offering of ?Kiribath? to the Community and the invitees. Everybody is invited to participate in the religious observances and the congregations thereafter.
4th evening is the 'Zenith' of our functions, where the Rulers, Diplomatic Community and the Business Community are invited to the Hilton ? Open Air Theatre. On stage, there will be performances by the Sri Lankan famous Youth Cultural Troup, and the Chief Guests will be Her Highness Sheikha Lubna from UAE and Hon. Minister of Youth Affairs from Sri Lanka.
There will be a cultural show by the Sri Lankan Youth Council and items by local talents. The cultural groups in UAE, wishing to take-part are invited to communicate with the Organizing Committee.

There will be a function at the Global Village with the participation of the Youth Council Troup, Bathiya & Santhush, Channa & Upuli and local talents on the main stage of the Global village, which has the potential to attract 5.5 Million consumers world-wide in Dubai. There is a Sri Lankan pavilion with Sri Lankan products, and this will be an opportunity for locals and expatriates to mingle with each other and to develop new business and social contacts.

There will be a cultural show at the Indian Cultural & Social Centre in Abu Dhabi with the participation of Sri Lankan & SAARC cultural groups. The intention of this cultural show is to develop, enhance and strengthen close ties with SAARC countries and to find a way to help the destitute ladies in the UAE in the event there are remaining funds to establish a running-fund for the ladies in need, especially in safe houses. We have invited His Excellency M. K. Lokesh, the Ambassador for India in the UAE as the Chief Guest, and those who wish to participate or take part at the events should communicate with the organizing committee
? Mega Souvenir
The Souvenir published will be a unique presentation. It will be hosted on the website for one full year and made use of at all the events that are taking place through-out the year. Therefore, the business community and those who wish to communicate with the Public are invited to get in touch with the Organizers to book a prominent place in the Souvenir, which will cost only AED2000/-, per page. The good news is that we have already received reservations, and request you to reserve your page as early as possible.
? Sinhala & Hindu New Year
Sinhala & Hindu New Year too will be celebrated in April. As has been done previously, the Ground will be booked for stalls and various items will be organized. Those who wish to take part at the items or those who need stalls may contact the Organizers.

There will be raffles, presents and competitions during all the Events. The prizes will include tickets to Sri Lanka and many other interesting, important and valuable offers.
